Friday Night Shootout

I played the 5+1 shootout on Party friday night. I had a good run in the first round and finished in 1st place with about 5,000 in chips. The second round table was a little tougher and I barely survived in 3rd place with about 4,000 in chips. I was the short stack beginning round 3, but after doubling twice I became the table chip leader with 20,000. I finished first in round 3 with about 70,000 in chips. In round 4 I lost several coin flips early and went out quick. I'm still looking to take down one of these. I've made it to the final round 3 times and the final table once.
I've been enjoying a great run at the 5/10 and 10/20 tables on party for about two weeks now. I know that can turn at any time but for now while it's running good I'm playing every chance I get. It's funny watching the table chat of some of these guys as they just hand out their money hand after hand.
I sat at a table with gcox25 a couple of times this week. Good times G.
WW has a new post titled "worst best hand" that is a really good read and study tool.
I received a nice comment from slimeface this week. Check out his blog if you get a chance.
Have a good week everyone and good luck at the tables.

Finding What Works

I'm writing this post for a few friends that read this blog. This is my story of losing and winning at online poker.
When I first started playing online poker I approached it the way I do most things. I purchased several books on the games I wanted to be good at. I read these books and studied them. I started playing the free tables. I made my first deposit of a hundred bucks. I played way too tight. I tilted a little. I played a little aggressive. I bullied. I played 1/2. I played 5/10. I went bust. I made 500. I was constantly amazed every few weeks at what I had learned that I didn't know before. I won more than I ever have. I lost more than I ever have. I was all over the place. I played with no game plan except to have fun and hopefully win more than I lost.
Two years after beginning I decided to play "serious poker". I started tracking my results. I got the best piece of advice I have ever been given about poker. The chumpbuster himself said I should find one game and stick with that game until I learn to crush the competition. I quit jumping around so much and began to grind out a profit. I learned I could consitently win, but I missed the games I enjoyed more. I made a decision to use 25 percent of my profits to play multi table tourneys and 25 percent to buy things I want that I wouldn't buy without this money. The rest of the profits go to build the bankroll.
Good luck to everyone playing in the blogger tourney. See ya there.....

Free Money

PP gave me free money today along with an apology for the inconvenience caused by the servers shutting down during my tourney this weekend. Thanks Party. I'm not thrilled with the new upgrades on party except for one. Blackjack? No thanks. Bet on the color of the flop? No way!! Deal making capability at the final tables of multis. I hope to be able to use that one over and over again...... ;)
I want to welcome a friend to the poker blogging community. I put a link over on the right there to "the shark's" poker blog.
My weekly game with the Omaha players is tomorrow night. I've been studying up on my Omaha and practicing a little online so I feel confident I will hold my own. I'll let you know how it goes.

Good Tourney Day

I was running good in a multi earlier today and PP decided to reset the servers. It was down to 34 of us and I had a well above average chip stack. I would have liked to play that out but I did get eight times my buy-in.
I'm playing the 10k freeroll now. We started with 2500 people and are down to 316.
220 make the money. I have an average stack with 9,000.
If i make final table or anything, I'll post again

MLP

I won the Most Likeable Player in the qualifier last night. I've never had this happen before. I got knocked out in 20th place. I had been at the same table with most of the same people for the final two hours when my pocket kings ran in to rockets. Five or six people at the table told me gg at the same time. It was a fun table but I would have liked to made it to the top 12 for a seat... oh well.
Tonight I'm playing the 500k multi qualifier.
Entry: 9+1
entrants: 310
Top 12 qualify
We are at the first break and I have 2295. 137 still in.
I'll post again tonight if I make it.

Party for Free

I'm playing in the Party for Free qualifier tonight. 725 entries. Top 12 qualify.
There are currently 123 still in. I'll post later if I make it.
My son arrived home from Iraq on a two week leave this weekend. I wish it was for good but at least he's here for two weeks.
I have a live small stakes tourney tomorrow night. I've won first the last two times I attended. Let's hope the streak continues.
WillWonka left me a comment welcoming me to the Poker Blogging community. Thanks WW

October Poker Goals

My poker goals for October are as follows:
1. Become a better Omaha player to diversify my game.
2. Determine which games online I win most consistently.

To achieve goal number one I am going to read a few Omaha books. I have never played Omaha much so to improve from where I currently am should be easy.

To achieve goal number two I am going to make a chart of the different games I play online and calculate ROI.
