DADI #1

I had a great time playing in the tourney and chatting with too many bloggers to mention. Gary knocked me out to receive the bounty. Send me your address G, cool stuff on the way. My best friend from high school came in 3rd place. He just started his blog yesterday. He is a very good player. We are planning to play a WSOP event together this year. Thanks to everyone who played for making the tourney a huge success and thanks most of all to TripJax and Jordan for putting it together. I can't wait for the next one.

How would you play it??

Here's an interesting one. I'm in the Million qualifier on party tonight with a well above average stack. I have about 3,650 and the average is 1,200. I'm dealt AA in early position. This has been a fairly aggressive table so I just toss out a nuisance bet. The blinds are 25/50. I raise it to 100. Two callers, no re-raise...ugh. The flop is A K 3 rainbow. I throw out a continuation bet of 100 again looking for someone to make a play. I get what I'm looking for. He raises it to 450. He's got 2,200 more. This is my question. Do you re-raise here or let him lead you to the turn? I ran him out of the hand with a huge re-raise all-in.
TripJax has been talking about a blogger tourney to qualify for the main event in the 2006 WSOP. He is asking for input on ideas for the format of the qualifer(s).
I have several parties and get-togethers the rest of the week so I'll probably be taking some time off from online and live poker.

Short Handed Play Revisited

There are a few really good recent posts on short handed play. Pokersweethome has an entry with links to some great articles. You will have to wade past the porn to get to it....lol. Mourn also has an excellent write-up on the twelve commandments of short handed play. It's solid advice; I highly recommend it.
I've been 4-tabling the single table tournaments with very good success this week. I'm going to continue playing 4 10+1's at a time. It seems to be netting 40 to 50 bucks an hour so far. If this trend continues with a larger sampling I will test 20+2 and 30+3 3-tabling vs. it to see which is more profitable. The Nerd has been running multible stt's for a while and seems to do well with quantity over quality. This seems to suit my game as well.
Big congrats to ChipperDH (with some help from trkfix and surflexus) for wading through a field of over 800 entrants today to finish 4th place in a multi.
There are some great pics from Vegas on Pauly's site and at Table Tango. I wish I was there right now.....sigh
Good luck at the tables this week everyone and a special GO GET 'EM to Jordan. He's had a bad run of variance lately. I hope it turns around for you bud.

SnG Results

9 entries at $11
finished 3,8,7,1,1,7,8,1,5
net profit $71 bucks
Four at a time was not as crazy as I thought it would be. I played one table first for a warm-up then two sets of four. I decided to stop after the second set. I was very focused in the first set and placed first in two of the four. I felt I lost a little patience in the second set but still managed to score a first place finish at one table.

Sit n Go Extravaganza

I'm going to try 4-tabling some sng's tonight on party. I'll start at the 10+1 tables. If the first set is profitable, I will move to the 20+2 tables. I plan on playing at least twelve tonight. I'll post the results in a few hours.
My friend "Rags" made it to the final 50 in the 40k guaranteed this week. Way to go Rags!! He's going with me to Tunica next month for the WSOP circuit tournaments.
Matt has a very interesting poll going on his blog. It sounds as if he is contemplating a video to teach 5/10 shorthanded. He is among the best I have ever watched play that game. Matt gave me some advice about a year ago that changed my poker life and helped me become a consistent winning player.
To the tables I go.........surf

Noooooooooooo!!!!!!!!

I am not destined to play in the Party for Free tourney. I played another qualifier today. The top 18 made it. I placed 19th out of 540 entrants.
I don't post many hand histories, but there was one very memorable hand in this tourney.
I was in the big blind with 6 2 offsuit. It was fairly late in the tourney and the blinds were about 1000/2000. I had a small stack of about 9,000. It folded around to the small blind. He limps in. I check. The flop is three rags, one of which is a two. Small blind checks. I check. The turn is a two. We both check. The river is a ten and the small blind bets 3 grand. I shove quickly. He calls with AA. That is the way not to play aces.
I went out after watching every small stack hit their runner runners and two outers time after time. I had pocket tens in middle position with a desperately small stack of 6 grand. The blinds were 3,000/1,500. The caller had sevens and tripped up.....sigh
I've added a few links to some great blogs on the right there; check them out if you get a chance.
Poker Cats is a very cool blog I came across this weekend. The Vegas updates are very cool and the writing style is great.
Good luck at the tables this week everyone.........surf

December Goals and November Results

November was an "ok" month poker-wise. I didn't have a big final table finish in a multi or anything, but I did consitently win money each week. My goals for December are as follows:
1) Get out of my comfort zone and try some higher level games.
2) Win enough in my comfort zone to pay for goal #1 in case it doesn't go well... :)
3) Play at least five live multi table tournaments in preparation for trip to WSOP circuit tournaments next month.
See you at the tables and have a great December everyone...good luck
